What are the best places to send affiliate links?

So basically, im trying to promote someones product, I have no idea how to do this since I am a newbie in affiliate marketing. Does anyone have some free advice and free information on where to put my links Affliate? Thanks:)

Do you know who your target audience is? The more specific the better. Defining exactly what type of person may be interested in the product / service you are trying to promote.
